This morning was the coldest morning of the winter season. The official low temperature at DFW Airport was 21°. Not quite down to the record low, but we did manage to set a new record cold maximum temperature this afternoon with a bitterly cold high of only 31°.We will drop back down to near-record cold temperatures again tonight. The record low for Tuesday morning is 20° set back in 1989. Under a mostly clear sky and with a lighter wind, we will have those ideal conditions to see the temperature drop very close to that record low.Sunshine returns for Tuesday and daytime temperatures will gradually moderate through the middle part of the upcoming week. By Thursday, spring will finally return to the area with highs in the 60s. 70s are on tap for the end of the week and first half of the weekend.
