Rain chances go up overnight then sunny by the afternoon

Late tonight and overnight, our next cold front moves in, bringing a chance of thunderstorms to North Texas.

These storms could bring brief, heavy rain and lightning around sunrise Wednesday. After the rain moves through it should be a nice day Wednesday with sunshine and pleasant conditions in the afternoon.

We're monitoring Tropical Storm Helene as it approaches the Gulf of Mexico. Currently, there are no direct impacts expected for North Texas, but a few showers may occur to the east from the remnants of the storm on Friday.

The weather for the opening of the State Fair of Texas on Friday looks seasonably cooler with some cloud cover. Highs will be in the 80s.
