NBC 5 Forecast: While not a washout, the chance of rain is high today

Abundant moisture remains in place today, keeping the clouds and rain chances with us. Drizzle is possible this morning with more substantial showers or thunderstorms possible later today as a cold front draws near. This front will contribute to the highest chance of rain arriving around mid to late afternoon. Some brief heavy downpours and lightning is possible, but severe weather is unlikely. That said, some storms could produce gusty winds and small hail. Highs will reach the low to mid 70s.

Another round of showers and isolated storms is possible Tuesday night into Wednesday with a stronger cold front. This front will allow for temperatures to cool down. Seasonal highs in the 50s and 60s will follow. (A light freeze is possible in northwest counties by Thursday morning).

The weekend is looking dry with near normal temperatures. Next week, Christmas Day and the beginning of Hanukkah are now on our 10-Day Forecast. As of now, it looks to be dry and relatively pleasant.
