NBC 5 FORECAST: Rain chances this weekend, but not a washout

An unsettled weather pattern through Monday

NBC Universal, Inc.

Rain is in the forecast for the weekend. It won't be a washout, but you may want to have a backup plan if you have outdoor plans. While it could rain at any point, the better chance favors the evening hours on both Saturday and Sunday. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy and mild.

The highest chance of widespread showers and thunderstorms will come late Sunday night and Monday as a cold front moves across North Texas. Some storms may turn severe and produce gusty winds and hail, even a tornado cannot be ruled out.

With this active pattern continuing through early next week, 1 to 4 inches of rainfall could be possible across the area.

The rain will clear out by Election Day Tuesday. Another weak front will bring additional rain chances, Wednesday night into Thursday as well.
