Pacific cold front moving across North Texas

Showers and thunderstorms moved through North Texas Monday morning, knocking out power to more than 37,000 people, according to Oncor.

At its peak, the number of reported outages topped 40,000.

The main threat from the storms were damaging wind gusts. Once the line moves past your area, so does the threat of severe weather.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for western North Texas until 6 p.m. Winds could gust up to 40 mph. Please secure your outdoor equipment and use caution for travel!

Rain is expected to clear the region, and clouds will decrease through Monday afternoon.

A stronger cold front will push into the area by Tuesday night. This frontal boundary will drop morning lows into the 30s and 40s. Frost could be possible in surrounding areas of DFW.

A potent storm system is moving into North Texas. Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected this morning. Storms could turn severe during this time. While the greatest concern will be damaging winds, storms could produce a few quick spin-up tornadoes along the leading edge of the squall line. Heavy rain will accompany these storms and could lead to some flooding issues. This activity will exit the area by midday Monday, with decreasing clouds through the afternoon.
