LIVE RADAR: Severe weather threat increasing across North Texas

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a level 2 risk for severe storms today

Numerous showers and storms are expected today with the threat for heavy rainfall, flooding and severe storms. Any severe storm that develops will be capable of producing hail, damaging wind and even a tornado or two.

The timing for severe storms will this afternoon through the evening. Approximately 3 p.m. - 9 p.m. It is important to stay weather aware today and keep checking back for updates. Here is a look at one of our forecast models:

Patchy drizzle and spotty showers are already moving thru North Texas this morning. For DFW, there may be some breaks in the rain around midday, but then a round of heavy thunderstorms arrives this afternoon into the evening. Torrential downpours will pose a risk for flooding, so watch for high water on the roads. 1-2" of rain is possible for DFW, the heavier amounts (3-5") farther west.
