The gusty winds that have occurred in North Texas will decrease tonight, slipping below 10-20 mph by Saturday morning. Saturday will be cooler and not as windy with highs in the low 70s with a northwest wind of 10-20 mph.

Contractors and homeowners are being told to prepare for damaging winds. The warnings come after two destructive storms left property owners with roof, home and fence damage that they’re scrambling to repair. NBC 5’s Alicia Barrera has the story.

Wednesday will be dry for much of the day, but there is a low chance of spotty storms developing by late afternoon near DFW. While the overall coverage of the storms will be low, any storm that develops may become severe with damaging winds and hail.

Texas Sky Ranger flew over North Texas Tuesday morning after storms moved through the area damaging buildings, homes and leaving many without power.

Storms that rolled through North Texas early Tuesday morning left a trail of damage. NCB 5’s Alanna Quillen reports from Irving. A roof was peeled off a building at Plano West High School and NBC 5’s Alicia Barrera talked to an eyewitness at a Lewisville warehouse that was heavily damaged.

Severe storms with heavy rain and high winds caused issues for  drivers. An 18-wheeler was on its side at S.H. 360 at Trinity Blvd. in Tarrant County, it’s believed it was blown over as winds that gusted 60-70mph early Tuesday morning. 

The Trump administration last week cut about 600 workers at NOAA and the National Weather Service.

Ready for sunshine and above-average temperatures? NBC 5 Chief Meteorologist Rick Mitchell says there are rain chances down the road. 

As far as meteorologists are concerned, today is the last day of winter. March 1 is the start of meteorological spring. This is different from astronomical spring, which begins March 20. That is the vernal equinox.
