Longhorns Fall to No. 5, β€˜Bama Takes Top Spot Followed by Tech

The Alabama Crimson Tide now top The Associated Press Top-25 College Football Poll.

The Tide are unbeaten in 9 games this season. They replace Texas, who suffered their first loss of the season last night to this week's No. 2 team, Texas Tech.

Like Alabama, Tech is unbeaten in nine outings, as is No. 3 Penn State.

Alabama was a heavy favorite in the balloting of sportscasters and writers as the Tide received 46 first-place votes to 12 for Texas Tech, 6 for Penn State and 1 for fourth-ranked Florida. The fifth-ranked team is Texas.

The second five this week features Oklahoma, Southern California, Oklahoma State, Boise State and Utah. TCU climbs a notch from No. 12 to No. 11 after beating UNLV.
