Staffing shortages and low salaries are partly to blame for long waits for driver license renewal appointments. That’s why the Texas DPS is considering a virtual appointment system.

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles announced Friday that offices across the state will reopen at 12 p.m. after a system outage forced them to remain closed throughout the morning.
