Snow and ice across the U.S. South are expected to relinquish their grip only slowly as the weekend continues.

Areas of black ice and slick roads are a major concern this morning. We’ll climb into the 40s this afternoon with bright sunshine. 

We’ve seen how all this snow has shut down schools and government offices. In rural Grayson County, they too got several inches of snow. But as NBC 5’s Vince Sims shows us, neighbors were not going to let snow ruin one couple’s special day. 

Following the recent DFW snowstorm, officials are warning drivers to watch for black ice and refreezing on roads and bridges. These icy conditions, especially in areas with heavy snowfall, make driving hazardous.

The city of Dallas says its emergency operations center will stay active at least through kick-off of Friday night’s Cotton Bowl game. David Goins has the update.
