For the first time, we’re hearing from the family of one and four-year-old sisters killed in a Fourth of July shooting Friday night at a balloon release held in their memory. Loved ones called on the community to put down the guns. NBC 5’s Allie Spillyards has the story.

Fireworks weren’t the only main attraction to celebrate the Fourth of July, on Thursday at Fireworks on the Fairway at PGA Frisco — Sky Elements’ drones took center stage.

Competitive eater Joey “Jaws” Chestnut took his hot dog-downing talents to an army base in Texas for America’s Independence Day this year. He ate 57 hot dogs compared to four soldiers at Fort Bliss who ate 49 combined. The real winner? Operation Homefront, a nonprofit that helps military families in need — because they ate a combined 106 hot dogs $106,000 was donated.
