The Lake Ridge High School alum, decorated NCAA champion and former Florida Gator has been training on the East Coast for much of the offseason and that training has paid off, winning the triple jump at U.S. Olympic track and field trials and earning a spot on Team USA at the Paris Olympics.
Grand Prairie’s Jasmine Moore is heading to another Olympics.
"I am just focused on executing, seizing the moment and just trusting in the Lord and my training,” Moore said just days before the trials started in Eugene, Ore.
Saturday’s win was marked her first triple jump U.S. Championship.

It wasn’t light work for Moore though. While her first jump (14.07m/46'2") put her in first place, she was then passed later in round one. It was her final jump and sixth attempt (14.26m/46'9.5") that landed her in first place.
Even though she was first, those numbers did not meet the Olympic standard. Her world ranking in the event is expected to be enough for her to qualify for that event.

This Olympics will be much different than Tokyo (2021) during the pandemic. Fans were not allowed for many events and limited capacity at some. It was an aspect of sport that many athletes have said affected them. Moore said she is just happy that won't be the case this year.
"I'm just super excited. My family is already planning their trip. Now, my godparents, my sister, just everyone to be there. So it's super exciting to have that support and honestly makes me just want to do even better. Just knowing that everyone is there cheering for me. I think that definitely adds a little extra motivation," Moore said.
She also said she was more relaxed and felt so much more prepared for this trials than heading into the trials before the Tokyo Olympics. She said a lot of that is because she could focus on just track and field.
"Before I was at the University of Florida, so I was trying to juggle so much. I am thankful I got to graduate from that school, but I was having to focus and juggle academics and [training.] It has been a lot easier to balance life," Moore said.
Moore also placed second in the long jump on June 29, meaning she has a chance to represent Team USA in both events. If she were to win gold in both, she would be the first American woman to do so.
Moore, a Grand Prairie native, won the 2023 NCAA indoor championships with the University of Florida. As a senior at UF, Moore became the second woman to clear both 15m in the triple jump and 7m in the long jump indoors. Moore set the American and collegiate record in the triple jump and the collegiate record in the long jump at the NCAA Indoors on her way to her fifth and sixth national title as a Gator.
Moore will be back in action on Thursday, June 27 in the long jump competition.
