The Texas Rangers have agreed to terms with six players on one-year contracts for the 2017 season.
Catcher Robinson Chirinos, RHPs Sam Dyson, A.J. Griffin and Tanner Scheppers all avoided salary arbitration and were all given one-year deals Friday.
Later in the afternoon the team announced one-year deals with infielder Jurickson Profar and RHP Jeremy Jeffress.
While the Rangers did not disclose any details of contracts, the Associated Press reports 28-year-old closer Sam Dyson agreed to a $3.52 million contract.
The hard-throwing right-hander went 3-2 with a 2.43 ERA and 38 saves in 73 games for the AL West champions last season, when he earned $525,270. Dyson took over as closer about a month into the season and finished third in the AL in saves.
Dyson is 11-9 with a 2.93 ERA and 40 saves for his career.
"Chirinos was the club’s Opening Day catcher, but missed two months last season with a right forearm fracture. Griffin finished third among Texas pitchers with 23 starts and 119.0 innings last year. Scheppers was sidelined for most of 2016 after left knee surgery in February, but he made 10 relief appearances with the Rangers at the end of the season," the Rangers said in a statement.

"Jeffress combined for 27 saves and a 2.33 ERA with Milwaukee and Texas in 2016, joining the Rangers in a trade on August 1. Profar returned to the majors last season after a two-year absence due to injuries and played a career-high 90 games for the Rangers," the team said.
Texas has one player remaining who is eligible for arbitration: reliever Jake Diekman.
