In an ongoing series, we'll take a look at possible free-agent and trade targets for the Texas Rangers this summer.
Target: Neal Cotts, LHP
2015 stats: 1-0, 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 32 2/3 innings, 35 strikeouts, 10 walks, 9.6 K/9 innings
Cotts would give the Rangers something they're familiar with and he wouldn't cost the team hardly anything in the way of prospects given the fact he's a free agent after this season after he signed a one-year deal with the Brewers this winter after a rough year with Texas last season heading into free agency.
Cotts was superb in 2013 after a five-year absence from the majors when he posted a 1.11 ERA in 57 innings with Texas. Then, he struggled horribly in 2014 as he posted a 4.32 ERA in a career-high 66 2/3 innings.
He'd give the Rangers a couple of things they are coveting โ proven late-inning relief and versatility as well as a bullpen hand from the left side.
