With a clear need at the safety position in the wake of the release of veteran Gerald Sensabaugh, the Dallas Cowboys will bring in former Raider and University of Texas product Michael Huff on Monday for a visit, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Like the Cowboys with Sensabaugh, the Raiders released Huff in a cost-cutting move just before the opening of the NFL’s free agency period.
Dallas is still high on Barry Church and Matt Johnson, but injuries kept Johnson from ever getting on the field his rookie season and Church from playing in all but three--the result of a season-ending Achilles injury suffered in the week three win over Tampa Bay.
The Cowboys still don’t have much breathing room under the salary cap--they’re just around $100,000 under at the moment--but their interest at the safety position would lead us to believe that they’ll do some shuffling if need be, if Huff or another proven vet impress them enough.
