We said several times during spring training that Derek Holland's success or lack thereof would be a huge key to the Rangers' level of success this season, and we weren't the only folks preaching that gospel.
Two starts in, and Holland has given us a mixed bag of results. His season debut was the non-quality start of the season for the Rangers as the walk bug and a homer got to him and he lasted just five innings, allowing three runs.
Then in his second start of the year against Seattle, Holland balled out. The lefty worked 6 2/3 shutout innings while striking out four batters and walking two. He allowed just four hits and barely even faced trouble of any manner.
If the Rangers get Holland again on Tuesday, it's going to be huge because it'll likely mean they have a pretty good chance of opening what's going to be a heated series on a good note. It's early, but make no mistake, these games definitely matter.
