Wylie Teacher Arrested for Improper Relationship with Student

Wylie High School English teacher Kristin Sims, 33, is accused of having sex with a 17-year-old male high school student, she has since resigned.

A Wylie High School teacher has been arrested after having been accused of having an improper relationship with one of her students.

Kristin Sims, 33, was taken into custody at Wylie High School around noon on Wednesday and was booked into the Collin County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

According a Wylie Independent School District's staff page, Sims was employed as an English teacher and a drill team director.

She has since resigned.

According to the City of Wylie, police received information on the alleged relationship on Wednesday morning and began an investigation into the allegations.

"We got this information at 7:30 in the morning and by noon, we had an arrest," said Wylie Police Sgt. Donna Valdepena.

According to the arrest affidavit, in a forensic interview, the victim told investigators that he and Sims had a short sexual relationship between November and December 2013, adding that the two engaged in sexual acts and intercourse between three and four times.

The first incident, according to the victim, happened on a Sunday.

He said Sims left a door unlocked at Wylie High School, where the two met in her classroom and began having sex.

In the affidavit, he says during the following encounters, he and Sims would meet up during the teacher's lunch periods to have sex on blankets and pillows that she kept at the school.

The victim maintained that all of the sexual encounters between the two happened on school grounds in Sims' classroom.

Wylie Police tell NBC 5 the initial victim outcry was substantiated when investigators seized both the victim's cell phone and that of Sims.

The affidavit says the phones showed "several texts and pictures that appear to have been exchanged between the student and the teacher".

Wylie Independent School District released the following statement on the incident:

"We are extremely shocked and saddened by these allegations. Wylie ISD is cooperating fully with the investigation and we have taken all appropriate actions in accordance with the law and district policy. Mrs. Sims resigned her position with Wylie ISD and is no longer a district employee. As this is still on ongoing investigation, we cannot comment any further. Any other questions need to be directed to the Wylie Police Department."

Police said the investigation into the alleged relationship is ongoing and that the name of the student said to be involved with Sims will not be released at this time.

Police have not said if they believe there are any other victims yet to come forward.
