The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the person who hit two women with a pickup truck on Thursday evening and then left them lying in the road.
The crash happened along US Route 67 on the Cockrell Hill exit ramp at about 8 p.m. after the two women pulled over because of a flat tire.
Video from the dashboard camera of an officer who was on his way to help the women shows a pickup truck hit the women and drive down the embankment back onto the highway. He arrived just 17 seconds after the truck hit the women and drove away.
Marteen Reed, her husband and her friend Omega Jones pulled over to change the flat tire. Reed said she looked up to see a truck driving straight toward her.
“When I turned to look toward the oncoming traffic, I just seen lights," she said. "I ran, and when I opened my eyes, I was on the ground, on my back, and I just heard my husband screaming."
“I just felt burning on my left side. ... I knew I could move my arms and my head," Reed said. "I was saying, ‘You can get up. Get up.’ But I couldn’t. I just could not get up.”
Reed was released from the hospital with some bumps and bruises, but said Jones is still in the hospital, unable to speak.

“I’m just grateful she’s alive, but I really just want her to be the way she was before, and I’m not guaranteed that because of someone’ s actions and they just kept on and never even thought about it,” she said.
“I just think this person needs to come up and confess," Reed said. "Confess, because you actually could’ve killed two people."
Deputies said they believe the truck they are looking for is white with possible damage to the front right side.
"But there will be some evidence of a crash, whether it be blood splatter or some type of indentation or markings that it struck something," Sgt. Bryan Sherman said.
