At least two men are dead and as many as three others may be injured after a home invasion shooting in Denton Sunday night.
Denton police responded to a 911 call about gunshots fired at the Castle Rock at Denton Apartments at about 5:38 p.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived, they found the four gunshot victims. Two were pronounced dead and the two injured men were taken to Denton Regional Emergency Room with injuries that were not life threatening. The injured men were treated and later released, according to police.
Nearly 24 hours into the investigation, Denton police said Monday afternoon that three men forced their way into a residence at the apartment complex and gunfire erupted.
One of the intruders was shot and killed inside the apartment while a second was shot and killed outside of Building 5, police said. The third man, police said, escaped and may be injured.
The identities of the suspected intruders has not yet been released.

Two guns were recovered from inside the apartment, police said, one belongs to the suspects and another to the victims. Police said they are not yet sure who shot who.
The relationship between the victims and suspects is not known, police said, though they did confirm that the victims were not students at The University of North Texas and the suspects were not from Denton.
The Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation.
