Officials said the fire started in the utility room for the pool at Admiral Hotel in the 1400 block of North Watson Road at about 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames about an hour later.
The fire caused heavy smoke to blow into the hotel's first and second floors.

Approxmately 100 occupants of the hotel evacuated safely.
There are no reports of injuries.
