Grief counselors will be at Fort Worth's Trimble Tech High School Monday to help students grieving the death of a classmate last week.
Kevin Esparragoza, 17, committed suicide at his home Thursday according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office.
Fort Worth Police say Esparragoza tried to keep Ivan Torres from drinking and driving before a fatal accident last month.
Torres died in a head-on collision with an SUV and his passenger and classmate Jeanette Lopez died the following day. Two women and two young girls in the SUV were injured but survived the wreck.
Esparragoza helped state regulators investigate the convenience store suspected of selling Torres alcohol before a fatal accident.
A Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission agent told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
"Kevin was an extremely brave young man who attempted to first save his friends and then ultimately lost his own life grieving fro those he cared about."
