A North Texas resident whose tip helped Arlington police solve the 2007 murder of Brittany Rapoza will receive a $10,000 check Tuesday.
A fisherman found a woman's decomposing body floating in Lake Arlington near McCray Park on August 19, 2007. A photo of the woman's reconstructed face was released to the media and Schepps Dairy offered the $10,000 reward.
The tipster contacted police and identified the victim as Rapoza and gave specific suspect information that lead to the arrest of Randy Wilson.
The tipster and other witnesses testified in Wilson's trial. He was convicted of murder and received a life sentence in November.
"This case may have never been solved had it not been for the courage of our tipster," said Arlington Detective Jim Ford.
Schepps began it's reward program after the murder of one of its employees in 1973. Since then the dairy has offered more than $1.5 million in rewards and given more than $350,000 to people who have helped police solve crimes.
Most recently, in July 2002, Schepps presented Arlington resident Edwin "Bubba" Schafer with a $10,000 check for his help in the arrest and indictment of serial rapist Manuel Salamanca, Jr., he's currently serving life in prison.
