Dallas Fire-Rescue says a vacant motel is a total loss after a 3-alarm fire.
Crews arrived at the Sundial Motel in the 2700 block of South Buckner Boulevard in southeast Dallas at about 7:53 p.m.
First responders spotted black smoke that could be seen from miles away and flames shooting from the roof of the motel.
Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesperson Jason Evans said there was an apartment complex near the motel that quickly became a concern as the fire spread and three-alarm response was called for as additional firefighters arrived.
Crews were able to contain the damage to the motel, but the structure appears to be a total loss, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.
There was no need to call for a mass evacuation of the neighboring complex, and no residents were injured.
One firefighter did receive a non-life-threatening injury while fighting the fire. He was taken to a local hospital, treated and released.
