Not All Gander Mountain Locations Will Close: CEO

Despite reports the outdoor chain Gander Mountain is "going out of business," the company's new CEO says not all locations will be closing.

In a post on the company's website, Gander Mountain said it is going out of business after 57 years.

The chain has 22 stores in Texas, including stores in Arlington, Lake Worth, Frisco, Lewisville and Mesquite.

In March 2017, the company says in a statement, it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In May, the company was acquired by Camping World Holdings, Inc.

Marcus Lemonis, CEO of Camping World Holdings, Inc., said in a video posted on Twitter not all locations would be closing. Lemonis said he hopes to keep 70 stores open.

In the video Lemonis said his company bought the intellectual property and rights to the leases to stores associated with Gander Mountain, however, they did not buy the inventory currently in stores. He said liquidators bought that inventory and it will all be sold off.

"All stores are liquidated and the inventory in there is going to go away but the stores aren't closing," Lemonis said.

The outdoors store said all of their sales will be final, meaning no refunds, exchanges or adjustments for prior purchases.

Lemonis said any Gander Mountain employee at a closed store will be given the chance to interview at a Camping World store if there is one nearby.

The CEO has been posting updates on Twitter regarding the stores that would remain open. In a post Monday evening, he indicated the following Texas stores will remain open: Amarillo, College Station, Fort Worth, Spring and Tyler.
