Texas Trooper Dies in Patrol Car Crash Near Goldthwaite

A veteran Texas trooper has died in a patrol car crash in Mills County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety on Friday announced the traffic-related death of 49-year-old Sgt. William "Karl" Keesee.

DPS said Keesee was on duty and southbound on U.S. 84 near Goldthwaite when his patrol vehicle left the road, went over a guardrail and into a creek bed. A passing motorist late Thursday night noticed debris on the road and reported the crash.

A DPS statement said the exact time of the crash and the cause are under investigation.

Keesee joined DPS in 1990 and was stationed in Brownwood. He's survived by his wife and two children.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Goldthwaite is 80 miles west of Waco.
