The annual Red River Rivalry football game between the University of Texas in Austin and Oklahoma University will be played at the Dallas Fair Park Cotton Bowl through 2025.
The City of Dallas has made extensive renovations and improvement to the Cotton Bowl over the years to keep hosting college football games there even after the namesake Cotton Bowl game move to AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
The Texas-OU game had been signed through 2020 and Mayor Mike Rawlings said the teams finalized an agreement to extend their commitment Monday.
"It's huge," Rawlings said. "To have that game guaranteed for five more years pays off the investment we've been making here and continues the momentum of Fair Park being one of the hot spots in America."
Rawlings made the announcement Tuesday as he unveiled improvements for the park gate six entrance and Martin Luther King Boulevard leading into it.
Those new improvements will be ready in time for this year's State Fair of Texas in September, Rawlings said.
