Arlington police are waiting on a damage estimate before charging a teen with vandalism of a school.
The front doors were smashed at Bailey Junior High School Tuesday morning after someone rammed their way into the school overnight. Once inside, the vandal(s) destroyed windows and ripped a security camera from the walls. Glue had also been squeezed into locks and a fire alarm activated.
After news reports of the vandalism aired Tuesday, a teen and former student of the school told his parents that he knew something about the vandalism, police said. The parents brought the teen to the police station where he admitted to causing the damage.
He was then released into the custody of his parents.
Meanwhile, even though a suspect has been found, the investigation is ongoing as officers continue to gather information.
Crews worked overnight Monday to clean the school in time for the first bell Tuesday. Classes were not delayed.
