‘Suspicious' Fort Worth Fires Under Investigation: Fire Department

Fort Worth arson investigators are looking into what caused three fires within the last 24 hours even though the fires all happened close together, the department is investigating them separately.

Suspicious fires that destroyed two abandoned buildings only three blocks apart are being investigated by the Fort Worth Fire Department Tuesday.

The first fire, reported at 2:23 a.m., destroyed an abandoned two-story home on the 900 block of East Hattie. Firefighters were called to the second fire, at an abandoned church on the 200 block of Williams Street, about a half hour later.

Officials with the Fort Worth Fire Department said both of the structures were destroyed and that it was unusual to have two fires so near each other.

Arson investigators are at the scene of both fires, which the department described as suspicious, to determine how they started.

A third fire, which took place nearby on the 1200 block of Annie Street the day before, is also being investigated.

Officials have not yet determined if the fires are related and they are all being investigated individually.
