Stars Fire Head Coach Marc Crawford

The Dallas Stars dismissed head coach Marc Crawford just two days after the team failed to make the playoffs.

The move shouldn't really be a surprise.  Crawford had failed to take the team to the post season since becoming the coach two years ago -- and you can't stay around long in DFW if you aren't in the playoffs.

A news release from the team said the following:

Dallas Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk announced today that Head Coach Marc Crawford has been relieved of his coaching duties, effective immediately.

“I would like to thank Marc for the hard work he provided to the Dallas Stars over the last two seasons,” said Nieuwendyk. “We wish him the best in the future.”

Crawford had been the head coach since the 2009-10 season when he replaced Dave Tippett.
