Stars Fire Head Coach Marc Crawford

The Dallas Stars dismissed head coach Marc Crawford just two days after the team failed to make the playoffs.

The move shouldn't really be a surprise.  Crawford had failed to take the team to the post season since becoming the coach two years ago -- and you can't stay around long in DFW if you aren't in the playoffs.

A news release from the team said the following:

Dallas Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk announced today that Head Coach Marc Crawford has been relieved of his coaching duties, effective immediately.

β€œI would like to thank Marc for the hard work he provided to the Dallas Stars over the last two seasons,” said Nieuwendyk. β€œWe wish him the best in the future.”

Crawford had been the head coach since the 2009-10 season when he replaced Dave Tippett.
