It’s been mostly smooth sailing for voters in North Texas, however, there have been a few reports of hiccups on this Election Day.

Multiple people have reported issues while voting at Howard Middle School in Arlington. When its doors opened this morning, they did not have the correct paper ballots for one of the precincts the location serves.

That issue has been resolved, according to officials, though it delayed voters for more than an hour Tuesday morning.

"There was a delay for some people there. And we can only apologize to them for the confusion,” said Heider Garcia, the Tarrant County Election Administrator.

A second issue was in Dallas County where a polling place in Hutchins opened an hour late.

In Denton County, at a voting location in Bartonville, a power outage temporarily turned off some of their equipment.

Frank Phillips, the Denton County Election Administrator, said the local election judge at the location had some of the voters use emergency ballots and others who were planning to vote "straight-ticket" mark their votes on a piece of computer paper.

He said this is legal and in accordance to the Texas Election Code.

“The judge can decide to write it on a piece of paper… or write it on a napkin if they wanted to…as long as she can control them, keep track of them, and check in the voters who’ve voted,” said Phillips.

He said all of the votes placed during that time were taken to the Early Voting Ballot Board and remarked.

Power was restored soon after.
