Seagoville Police Arrest Man Who Fired at Officers During Chase

Police said they arrested a man who stole lawn equipment and fired at officers during a chase in Seagoville Tuesday morning.

Seagoville police said they received a call about a suspicious vehicle possibly involved in the theft of lawn equipment just before 6 a.m. Officers tried to stop a vehicle matching the description, but the driver fled.

During pursuit, police said the driver fired two times at officers before crashing into a ditch in the 1500 block of West Simonds Road.

No injuries have been reported.

After the crash, police said the man fled the vehicle. Officers searched the area with help from Dallas police and the Texas Department of Transportation choppers.

Police said tips led them to the Pecan Lake Mobile Home Community and arrested 35-year-old Rosalio Vargas-Ojeda. The lawn equipment that was reported stolen was found in his vehicle.

Vargas-Ojeda was transpoted to the Dallas County Jail and charged with aggravated assault on a public servant and evading arrest.
