Rottweilers That Attacked Children Euthanized

Tests for rabies came back negative

Fort Worth's Animal Care and Control facility says the two dogs that attacked and seriously injured two children on Oct. 10 have been euthanized.

Seven-year-old Mercedes Garcia had 42 staples placed in her head after being wounded by the dogs.

A neighbor used a walking stick to get the dogs away from her and another child.

Garcia's grateful father said he'd never seen the dogs before and hoped they'd be put down.

Both dogs were tested for rabies, but neither had been infected by the disease.
