Rollover Wreck Kills Two Collin County HS Students

A rollover wreck killed two students and injured five others.

A tough few days are ahead at two Collin County high schools after a two students were killed and five others were injured in a rollover crash over the weekend.

Police said the crash happened in Princeton at the intersection of Monte Carlo and Florence Drive early Sunday morning.

Cody Hensley, a 17-year-old who attended McKinney North High School and Steven Chaney, a 17-year-old who attended Princeton High School, were both thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Five other people riding in the Mazda hatchback were transported to local hospitals -- all of whom were either current or former students at Princeton High School. The Princeton Police Department said their injuries range from minor to critical condition.

Princeton police said Joshua Bartlett, a 19-year-old resident of Princeton, was driving at the time of the wreck. Although there were seven people in the car, there were only seat belts for five people.

Friends told NBC 5 the two victims knew each other from church activities at the Collin County Cowboy Church in Princeton. There was a vigil held Sunday night to remember the two young men.

Witnesses told NBCDFW that the car appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed before going out of control and rolling several times.

Students at McKinney North High School used the hashtag #CamoForCody on Twitter because they said Hensley wore camouflage clothing to school everyday. Some students planned to dress in camouflage in his honor on Monday.

A vigil will be held Monday at 8 p.m. at McKinney North High School.
