Small aircraft crashes at Eagle Mountain Lake, 1 dead

One person is dead after a plane went down Monday afternoon in Eagle Mountain Lake. NBC 5’s Keenan Willard reports the crash was caught on camera.

One person is confirmed dead after a small aircraft crashed in Fort Worth at Eagle Mountain Lake Monday afternoon.

According to the Tarrant Water Regional District which is leading the investigation, an adult male died in the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration released a statement saying the aircraft is a single-engine Champion 7EC and crashed into Eagle Mountain Lake around 12:40 p.m. 

The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office said it is assisting in the incident on the north-central side of the lake.

Texas Sky Ranger was over the scene where an aircraft could be seen submerged in the water.

Divers could be seen moving around the wreck site and part of the craft sticking out of the water.

A small aircraft has been reported to have gone down in Fort Worth at Eagle Mountain Lake Monday afternoon.

Crews have not been able to remove the victim from the wreckage due to damage to the aircraft. Crews will continue efforts to recover the body.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the crash. 

No word yet on the ID of the victim or the cause of the crash.
