One person is confirmed dead after a small aircraft crashed in Fort Worth at Eagle Mountain Lake Monday afternoon.
According to the Tarrant Water Regional District which is leading the investigation, an adult male, the only person aboard the plane, died in the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration released a statement saying the aircraft is a single-engine Champion 7EC and crashed into Eagle Mountain Lake around 12:40 p.m.
The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office said it assisted in the incident on the north-central side of the lake.

Texas Sky Ranger was over the scene where an aircraft could be seen submerged in the water. Divers could also be seen moving around the wreck site.
Crews have not been able to remove the victim from the wreckage due to damage to the aircraft. Crews will continue efforts to recover the body.
Surveillance video from a nearby home obtained by NBC 5 showed the moments leading up to the crash, when the plane could be seen descending rapidly before crashing down into the water.
No word yet on the identity of the pilot, or where the flight originated or was going.
The crash was a shock for those who live on the lake, like former pilot John Goggans who says he trained on the same aircraft for years and wondered what could have caused the crash since weather was not a factor.
"You know an engine failure, or like you say, a medical condition for the pilot. Other than that, I don’t know any reason why it would hit the water other than just poor judgment, and that happens too," said Goggans.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the cause of the crash.
