Texas Rangers 106-Year-Old Super Fan Passes Away

Elizabeth Sullivan of Fort Worth was surprised with a cake and gift from her beloved Texas Rangers as she celebrated her 106th birthday on Tuesday.

One of the Texas Rangers' biggest and oldest fans has died.

Elizabeth Sullivan, 106, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 1, her family confirmed to NBC 5.

"Not the reason that I wanted to return to Texas, but will celebrate that she and my Granddad are reunited again, and together in a better place," said Rick Taylor, Sullivan's grandson, who lives in Washington.

The Rangers invited Sullivan to throw out the first pitch before the team's season-opening homestand in April 2016 and Sullivan was thrilled.

"Why would they choose me, who doesn't amount to a hill of beans, while just last year they had a former President of the United States?" she said to NBC 5 back then.

Sullivan was one of the oldest people to ever throw out a Major League first pitch.

Back when Sullivan turned 100, she said she credited her good health to drinking a bottle of Dr Pepper every day.

When Dr Pepper got wind of that, the company promised her free drinks for life.

Details surrounding Sullvan's death were not provided. Her funeral arrangements are pending.
