“Psycho” Shanon Murphy, a producer of the nationally-syndicated "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning" radio show, returns to the airwaves Wednesday after spending several months recovering from brain surgery.
Murphy was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in October and, in November, underwent surgery to remove the mass.
In December, doctors readmitted Murphy to the hospital over concerns about swelling, possible infection and the healing of her operation wound.
Now, three months after her initial tumor diagnosis, Murphy has been cleared by doctors to return to work.
I'm glad it's finally ending and that normalcy is in the future," Murphy said. "I know the prayers and stuff have done a whole lot in helping me get through this and some of the complications. I'm good as new."
Murphy's health concerns are now replaced with first-day jitters of getting back in the studio.
"I've done it so long and it should be second nature, but it's brand new again," Murphy explained. "I know that the bosses were worried and wanted to make sure I'm doing it at a pace I can handle."
Murphy admits she thinks someone was looking out for her, referencing the morning show's namesake, Kidd Kraddick, who died unexpectedly in July.
"I have to think he's been up there watching over me and he's been telling the powers that be, ‘You better do what she needs you to do, or I'm gonna haunt you,’" she laughed.
