Prayer Service Held in Thanks-Giving Square

A morning prayer service Friday brought together hundreds of Dallas residents, and many police officers, who could grieve together after the deadly attacks Thursday night.

A prayer service was held at Thanks-Giving Square Friday for the victims of shootings at a protest in Dallas and their families.

Officials said they held the service because many community members are in shock and need an outlet where they can get together with others, deal with some of those emotions and show their support.

"I would ask if you are at home or in your home or in your school to join us at noon in that spirit of prayer to bring our city together and our country together," he said. "To heal wounds, not to create them."

Several religious leaders attended and spoke.
