A woman accidentally backed her sport utility vehicle into an elderly neighbor in the 3800 block of Silkwood Trail Friday morning, Arlington police said.
The woman was backing out of her driveway to take her teenage son to school at about 7 a.m. when she felt resistance, police said. When she pulled her SUV back into the driveway and got out, she saw the 80-year-old woman lying in the street, police said.
The family called 911, but the woman had stopped breathing, police said. She had apparently been taking an early morning walk when she was hit.
Her name has not been released.
Police said they do not anticipate filing any criminal charges against the driver.
