Dallas SWAT Officer Shoots, Kills Armed Suspect in Deadly Robbery: PD

According to police, the shooting happened at about 12:30 a.m. at an apartment complex located in the 9300 block of Skillman Street, where police officers had been conducting surveillance on a vehicle used Wednesday afternoon in a robbery that left one employee shot to death.

As officers were watching the vehicle, homicide detectives were obtaining a warrant and notified SWAT. When SWAT officers approached the vehicle, several people inside the vehicle tried to run away.

One man among the group of suspects running away from the vehicle was shot by a SWAT officer, police said. The man had been armed with an assault rifle when he was shot.

Officers were unable to revive the man. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

The identities of the deceased and the officer have not been released.

The remaining suspects were detained and held for questioning. No other injuries were reported.
