Police said a man driving a stolen red Mack semi-truck tried to run over a police officer Wednesday.[[315430471,C]]
Officials said a local business owner called Kaufman police at about 11 a.m. to report a stolen vehicle.
Officers found the vehicle driving along Texas Highway 171 (West Fair Street) near South Jefferson Street and attempted to put the driver over. When the driver wouldn't stop, a short chase began.
After the truck ran over spike strips placed in the road by police, the driver of the truck attempted to run over an officer, according to Kaufman police.
At that time, the officer fired at the oncoming truck, hitting the driver and ending the pursuit.
The truck driver was injured and transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
The incident is under investigation.
