A North Texas man described by authorities as an anarchist is facing additional charges for attempting to bomb a pipeline.
Three counts were issued last week by a federal grand jury in Sherman against 34-year-old Anson Chi. The Plano man now is charged with malicious use of explosive materials, use of a destructive device during a crime, and possession of a firearm that was not federally registered.
Authorities have said a homemade bomb exploded on a natural gas regulator in Plano. The device went off prematurely and caused little damage. The June 18 incident left Chi burned.
His lawyers have described Chi as "delusional" and he has a competency hearing scheduled for March. He remains in custody without bond.
An attorney for Chi was not immediately available Wednesday.
