Dallas begins testing on a new parking program this month that could make it easier for people to find and pay for parking spots.
The program will be carried out in nine areas in Dallas, starting in Deep Ellum, and eventually spread to include about 15 percent of the total number of parking spots in Dallas.
The areas scheduled to be involved in the program include the Central Business District, Mockingbird Station, Oak Lawn, Arts District, Uptown, City Hall, Deep Ellum, Jefferson and the West End.
According to Dallas police, crews will take out the individual parking meters and replace them with a multimeter to cover many spots. Many of those new meters will allow drivers to have the option to pay with a credit card instead of using coins.
Additionally, for some of those locations, people will be able to download an app that will tell drivers where there are open parking spots. More information about that app can be found by clicking here.
According to Parking Spotter, 125,000 people work in Dallas and 56 percent of them are making the drive into the city every day.
