NBC 5 recently announced that Laura Harris will be co-anchoring NBC 5 Today, effective immediately.
Harris joins NBC 5 co-anchor Deborah Ferguson, meteorologist Grant Johnston and traffic anchor Samantha Davies, a team dedicated to bringing North Texans the day’s first news and brightening every morning with #SomethingGood, weekdays at 4:30 a.m., 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Harris is an Emmy and Associated Press award-winning journalist who joined NBC 5 in September 2018 as a reporter and anchor of NBC 5 weekend evening newscasts.
"I fell in love with Texas after relocating to the area and am very excited about this opportunity," said Harris. "The energy and commitment of our morning team is incredible – I think our new 'Wake Up to #SomethingGood' format will make NBC 5 Today a popular choice for morning viewers."
Before joining NBC 5, Harris was an anchor/reporter for stations in Tampa, FL (WFTS), Charleston, SC (WCIV) and Athens, GA (WNEG). She also worked for CNN Sports and TNT Sports in Atlanta, GA.
Harris reported on Pope Francis' historic 2015 visit to Cuba and covered Tampa Bay Rays when they played the Cuban National Team in Havana. She also reported from both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions in 2016.
