Mother Grieves at Funeral for Drowned Sons

Two boys who police say were killed by their father were laid to rest today in Dallas. Naim Muhammad, 5, and Elijah, 3, were drowned Monday. Officers arrested their father, Naim, 32, and charged him with capital murder.

"Good night, my son. I'll see you in the morning," said Pastor Rickie Rush, reciting the famous words parents would say to their children at bedtime, while a mother in pain closed the small, light blue caskets holding her two young sons, who police say died at the hands of their father.

"God didn't do this," said Rush, speaking words of comfort to grieving family and friends in tears inside the Inspiring Body of Christ Church.

Police say the little boys and their mother, Kametra Sampson, were kidnapped by Naim Muhammad on their way to Frazier Elementary for the boys' first day of school.

"It is indeed with sadness and heavied hearts that we offer our words of condolence to this family," said school principal Rachel George.

Sampson remembered her oldest son, Naim, as the friend she never had.

"It was summer and it was hot out and stuff. And he kept saying that whole week, he said, 'I'm going to take you out to the water park, I'm going to take you out to the water park when I grow up.' I said, 'okay, baby, I'm going to wait on you,'" said Sampson.

She said her second son, Elijah, loved to help her cook.

"I was like, 'come here, Elijah.' He said, 'Mama, you can call me Lala,'" said Sampson through tears. "It's hard right now, but I know my sons are in heaven and they're going to be all right."

Left to raise her youngest son, Sampson is trying to stay strong and lean on her family.

"Just rest with the angels, and we'll meet them soon," said Gabrielle Armstead, the boys' aunt.
