Police in Fort Worth say a child was left unattended inside a vehicle while the mother was detained on a possible shoplifting charge.
Police were called to a parking lot outside Ridgemar Mall at about 6 p.m. Saturday evening.
A preliminary investigation revealed the mother had left her child inside the vehicle, which had been left running.
The mother was later detained inside a store on a possible shoplifting charge, but the child remained unattended inside the vehicle.
Police were able to rescue the child from the car. The child was taken to a hospital for observation and appeared to be in good condition.
Child protective services was notified of the incident and the mother of the child was taken into custody, police said.
