A judge has sided with a couple from Austin, after a dispute involving their dog, while the pair was in town for Thanksgiving, according to NBC 5's media partner KRLD.
John Baxa and his boyfriend, Keller Davis, were in Addison visiting Davis' parents for Thanksgiving, according to The Dallas Morning News, when their corgi-Chihuahua mix, Wiley, got loose.
The couple adopted Wiley in Austin, where the shelter had apparently made a mistake in registering his microchip, so all of Baxa's adoption paperwork has a 14-digit chip number instead of the standard 15. The Addison scanner picked up the original owners' 15-digit code.
Addison has offered Wiley's previous owner, a single mom in Austin, free adoption of any other animal in the city's custody, according to an Addison spokesperson.
