A North Texas soldier was killed in Iraq on Thursday, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
First Lt. Dustin D. Vincent, of Mesquite, died of wounds sustained when his unit was attacked with small arms fire, officials said.
Vincent, 25, is from Mesquite. He graduated from Mesquite High School in 2005, according to his Facebook page.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kan.
Vincent is survived by his wife.
