Men Wanted for Human Trafficking Deported to Ecuador

Two Cuban men discovered in Texas have been deported after authorities determined they were wanted in Ecuador on human-trafficking charges.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said in a statement Monday that 24-year-old Luis Manuel Campos Aguila and 26-year-old Wong Herrera were flown Friday to Ecuador.

They are accused of smuggling Cuban women to Ecuador and then forcing them to work as prostitutes to pay off thousands of dollars of debt they imposed on the women. Some victims were told they had debt of $3,000 but then the figure was increased to $8,000 and $15,000.

Authorities apprehended the men early last year as they tried to enter Texas through Laredo.
